Abstrakt/ Abstract: The polarized public conservative-liberal debate in Slovakia was stirred up in September 2025 by an amendment to the constitution, which, i. a., enshrined two sexes based on biological criteria and Slovakia‘s sovereignty in the EU in matters of national identity. In the presented text, the author examines opinion media texts on both the conservative and liberal sides of the ideological spectrum. She compares them in terms of four categories: topic, framework, attribute, argument. It is based on a proven methodology developed in previous similar research and compares the obtained data with the results of an equally structured analysis on a larger, thematically generally tuned sample. In her conclusions, she states that conservative editorials – unlike liberal ones – directed criticism largely inwards, emphasizing the partnership of the liberal part and the need for dialogue. The liberal media were more active, more fruitful and focused their criticism not only politically and ideologically, but also to a large extent religiously – on Christianity or the Catholic Church. Liberal commentators perceived on the opposite side more stupidity in the sense of primitiveness, narrow-mindedness, and naivety. Both sides styled themselves as a defence against aggressive ideological or religious pressure. From the point of view of argumentation, it was primarily a battle of ideas about what is right – that is, Hunterian privilege to shape the moral order.
