    Abstrakt/ Abstract:
    Východiská/ Background:
    The Management Grid is a tool for determining the leadership style of a manager.
    Cieľ/ Objective:
    To determine the preferred leadership style of nursing managers of the generation cohort X based on the management grid.
    Súbor a metodika/ Data and methodology:
    A quantitative study with complementary content analysis was conducted from December 2025 to February 2026. Eleven managers of the generation cohort X (born in 1961-1978) determined their preferred leadership style using two questionnaires, the “Blake and Mouton Management Grid - Questionnaire of Preferred Leadership Style” consisting of 18 statements and the GRID questionnaire - a management
    style test, which contains 36 statements. The average age of the female managers was 55 years and the average number of years of management experience was 15.6 years.
    Výsledky/ Results:
    According to the 18-item Blake and Mouton questionnaire, all female managers (n=11) prefer style 9.9, i.e. team leadership. The average value of people orientation (x̄ = 7.1) and the average value of task orientation (x̄ = 7.4) confirm the findings from the first questionnaire. The results from the GRID questionnaire containing 36 statements already showed differences in preferred leadership styles.
    Záver/ Conclusion:
    The study findings indicate a preference for leadership style 9.9, i.e. the most effective way of leading employees by nursing managers, resulting from the personality characteristics of Generation X.
