Abstrakt/ Abstract: The contribution is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach to macroeconomics as a living organism using the comparative method. The authors describe in an interesting way basic macroeconomic concepts and current events – macroeconomic balance, potential output, economic crises, fiscal and monetary policy, as well as the advanced Mundell-Fleming model. Balance is also needed in economics, which is referred to as homeostasis in biology. The basic systems of regulation of the human body include the nervous, hormonal and immune systems. The inspiration for our contribution was the article from Jana Piteková „Anatomy and economics“ and the book by P. Dettmer “Immunity”, where in the final part he describes immune disorders caused by insufficient or excessive reactions, such as in the application of fiscal and monetary policy. The methods used in the paper include the method of comparison and analogy, although in this case, analogy has its limits because there is no direct causal connection between biological and economic processes.
