Abstrakt/ Abstract: The article offers an interdisciplinary reflection on the life and work of the aristocrat, writer, editor and translator Jadwiga Zamoyska (1831–1923). Deeply socially engaged and committed to the Polish national cause, this Servant of God lived in an era marked by uprisings for national liberation, emigration and religious reform (including the emergence of new dogmas, religious orders and charitable societies). Zamoyska observed the development of spiritual life in both France and Poland while cultivating her own spiritual formation and self-improvement. Her life’s work included the establishment of the Women’s School of Domestic Work and the development of a Christian pedagogical program. Her books for students, such as the publication On Work (1900), were translated into foreign languages and published abroad (for example, as Sur le travail, Paris, 1902). This study presents a series of thematic excerpts concerning spiritual self-improvement. Contextual references are drawn from the author’s own writings, the recollections of her daughter Maria and from biographical studies.
