Abstrakt/ Abstract: The author of the text introduces the relevant professional circles to the most important results of research into fortified manor houses in the territory of Moravia in the Middle Ages and Early Modern Age. It should be noted, however, that the detailed research was conducted in the territory of central Moravia, which can be defined as a wider area around the town of Olomouc. Under the project entitled ‘My House, My Castle – Medieval Manor Houses in Central Moravia’, a large research team led by D. Papajík conducted an investigation into fortified manors from the historical, archaeological, architectural, cartographic, geoinformatics and geophysical perspectives. A total of 121 fortified manor houses mentioned in older literature were subjected to a thorough analysis. The research showed that older literature in the area of concern overestimated the number of these residences, as the research found that in a total of 18 cases, no fortified manor house existed at the concerned location (which accounted for 15% of all the residences examined). The author explains the most common reasons why this was the case within the text. This was not due to older authors ‘making the residences up’, but rather due to their incorrect or insufficient reading and analysis of the sources. In several cases during the research, a new interpretation of the location of the manor of concern (for the now extinct residences) was provided. In addition, the architectural and historical development of the given residences was clarified, which included adding and clarifying their owners.
