    Abstrakt/ Abstract:
Cieľ/ Objective: The work has the design of a descriptive study, the aim of which was to examine the prevalence and components of burnout syndrome in nurses working in anesthesiology and intensive medicine/intensive care unit (AIM/ICU) workplaces and in standard workplaces, to identify risk factors (with a focus on length of service) and to propose specific recommendations for prevention.
Materiál a metodika/ Material and methods: The sample of respondents consisted of 217 nurses (142 - PAIM/JIS, 75 - standard clinical workplaces). The standardized Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS, 22 items) was used to collect data. The analysis of the obtained data was processed using descriptive statistics, χ2 test and multiple logistic regression.
Výsledky/ Results: The overall prevalence of burnout syndrome reached 33.18%. Type of workplace (AIM/ICU) and shorter length of clinical practice (≤15 years) were statistically significant, independent predictors of risk. Nurses in AIM/ICUs had an almost 1.9-fold higher chance of burnout (OR: 1.89; p=0.019). Nurses with ≤15 years of clinical practice had a 2.15-fold higher chance of burnout (OR: 2.15; p=0.005). Emotional Exhaustion was the dominant component.
Záver/ Conclusion: Burnout syndrome is widespread in nursing practice. The highest risk rate is shown by nurses in intensive care settings and nurses with shorter length of clinical practice. The results emphasize the urgency of introducing targeted, procedural and preventive interventions, especially in the area of optimizing personnel standards and implementing professional supervision.
