Abstrakt/ Abstract: The article focuses on work motivation and job satisfaction of employees, with particular emphasis on university teachers, who represent key factors influencing the quality of higher education and academic research activities. The aim of the article is to analyse the relationship between work motivation and job satisfaction based on theoretical approaches and empirical findings, particularly the survey conducted by the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education. The research is based on a secondary analysis of scholarly sources and institutional data. The findings indicate a relatively high level of job satisfaction among university teachers; however, persistent issues remain in the areas of financial remuneration, career development and workload. Work motivation is predominantly influenced by intrinsic factors, especially academic autonomy and research activities.
