Abstrakt/ Abstract: The paper provides a comprehensive overview of music education in the Slovak Republic, focusing on music education in primary general schools as well as on specialized professional training provided by primary art schools. The study situates music education within the broader framework of the Slovak educational system and traces its historical development from early church-based instruction to contemporary curricular frameworks shaped by national and international reforms.
