Abstrakt/ Abstract: This paper presents a qualitative analysis of newspaper articles from Slovak political periodicals, the daily Slovák and Slovenský denník, from early 1927, with a focus on the evaluation of a proposed reform of the political administration. The aim of the work is to map the development of the opinions and expectations of the most prominent political entities in Slovakia during the period under review – Hlinka's Slovak People‘s Party and the Republican Party of Farmers and Smallholders (Agrarian Party) and thus to deepen understanding of the issue under investigation and at the same time to correct some overly generalised conclusions that appear in the current specialized literature. The work gradually approaches the issue of the current historiographical treatment of the issue and subsequently presents the chronological development of views on public administration reform from the perspective of two political periodicals.
