Abstrakt/ Abstract: The aim of this paper is to provide an overview and critical reflection on current knowledge about the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), especially large language models (LLMs), in scientific research. The article presents a conceptual insight into the topic, based on a selection of peer-reviewed open-access studies from the Web of Science and Scopus databases published in 2025, rather than an exhaustive systematic analysis. Attention is paid to defining key terms, indicating major trends, and providing a framework for assessing the ethical, methodological, and epistemological impacts of GenAI on individual phases of the research cycle from hypothesis generation to publication. The findings point to the significant potential of GenAI in areas such as research automation, data analysis support, and accelerating scientific discovery, but also highlight the risks associated with research integrity, transparency, bias, and the changing role of the scientist. The article's contribution is a synthesis of findings, the formulation of indicative recommendations for the academic community, and an indication of the main research gaps that may stimulate future, more methodologically rigorous studies.
