Abstrakt/ Abstract: The history of the Christian socialist movement in Slovakia is an under-studied topic. In the article, available Hungarian and Slovak literature was used and supplemented with research in the Archdiocesan Archives in Košice. The first chapter describes the emergence and development of this movement in Old Hungary in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and its most important figures, Ottakar Prohászka and Alexander Giesswein. The second chapter describes the history of this movement in Slovakia and specifically in the Diocese of Košice. In 1905, a Christian workers' association was established in Košice which was later renamed the Košice Christian-Social Association. Such associations were established in the Košice diocese and also in Košická Nová Ves (in 1906) as well as in the territory of present-day Hungary in the towns of Mád and Sátoraljaújhely; Christian trade union organizations were also established in Košice at the beginning of the 20th century. The patron and supporter of the Košice and Košice-Nová Ves associations was the diocesan bishop Augustín Fischer-Colbrie. The ideas of Christian socialism were also spread by A. Fischer-Colbrie through the press in the newspapers Felvidéki Ujság and Esti Ujság. The last chapter presents the bishop's views on social issues based on his works published in Hungarian in Košice by the Christian Socialist Party in 1919 and 1920. These are the booklets "Társadalmi problémák" (Social Problems), "Munka" (Work) and "Kommunizmus és magántalajdon" (Communism and Private Property), which were also preserved in his estate.
